East Asian medicine is deeply attuned to the energetic rhythms of nature. During the “dog days of summer,” there are three peak periods of yang energy—-collectively known as the San Fu. For centuries, practitioners have offered San Fu moxibustion treatments during these specific times to harness and channel yang energy. This is an ancient, seasonal treatment that has been continuously practiced into the present day.
Yang energy is about protection, strength, impenetrability. Anyone can get San Fu treatments, but it is especially helpful for people who are concerned about respiratory illness, who struggle with asthma or allergies, who have digestive concerns or chronic fatigue, or for people who work with children/in healthcare.
San Fu treatments are needle-free! This is a heat therapy practice which involves burning small moxa cones on slices of fresh ginger placed on key acupuncture points—a technique called ginger-isolated moxibustion. We also use a moxa stick to apply radiant heat to specific points, supporting the body’s yang now and for the coming months.

While San Fu treatments are most effective when done once during each fu period (three times per summer) for three consecutive years, even a single session can offer meaningful support.
